Mark Kendernay joined Gibson Thornley Architects in 2020, wanting to contribute to a dynamic studio that was both intellectually challenging and uncompromising on built quality, as well as being founded on collective creative endeavour. Since then he has worked on commercial, residential and education projects, developing an interest in using the design process to find and create value. He has particular skill and experience collaborating with other team members to shape and resolve designs using BIM – and is now BIM lead for the studio.
Before joining Gibson Thornley, Mark worked with Grimshaw and Rick Mather Architects. He speaks French, German and Hungarian, and uses his photography to document the life and work of the studio.
Mark believes that good architecture is coherent, rational and works on many levels, making the best possible use of the available materials.
