Roxana Caplan joined Gibson Thornley Architects in 2023, having graduated with Distinction at Newcastle University. Her thesis project was nominated for the prestigious RIBA President’s Silver Medal and won Newcastle University’s award for excellence in design. She has a broad range of experience including masterplanning, higher education and workplaces.
Roxana is interested in the potential of emerging biomaterials in architecture, and how designing for and with other forms of life might change the traditional design processes. Her research spans ecological and circular design, regenerative materials and crafts, engaging communities and interdisciplinary collaborations. She is an active member of the Architects’ Climate Action Network, and is a key member of Gibson Thornley’s sustainability team.
